About Shri Harsiddhi Shaktipeeth KshetraShri Harsiddhi Shaktipeeth Kshetra stands near the Rudra Sagar in Ujjain, one of the Shakti Peeths of the Devi and the kuldevi of Samrat Vikramaditya. In its courtyard rise two tall lamp towers from the Maratha period, and every evening of Navratri men climb them and light lamp after lamp until both stand on fire against the night sky, while the whole city gathers below. On Navratri Pratipada the festival opens here the way it opens in every home: jau is sown in a bed of soil, the kalash is set over it, and the Devi is invoked for nine nights. Families bring the year they want to begin, a job, a shop, a house, good health, and set it under her eye on the first morning.
