How to choose an online puja platform
Searches for the best online puja website expect a ranked list. We are not going to give you one, because the honest answer is that the right platform depends on which rite you need and where it must be performed, and because a list written by one of the platforms on it is worth very little.
What is useful is a set of checks. Apply these to any provider you are considering, including this one. Where we fall short of a check, we have said so.
1. Does the page name the temple, the ritual and the tithi?
All three, before you pay. A page that says only puja for prosperity, with no Kshetra and no date, is not telling you what you are buying. This is the single fastest filter.
2. Does the sankalp carry your naam and gotra?
Ask whether your name is spoken in the sankalp, and whether you will hear it. If a provider collects no gotra at all, ask what exactly is being offered in your name.
3. Is the video of your ritual, or is it stock footage?
This is where providers differ most and where it is easiest to be misled. Generic aarti footage, reused across hundreds of customers, is common. Your naam and gotra being audible in the recording is the proof that the footage is yours.
4. Who actually performs it?
Ask whether the pandits are of that region and that parampara, or coordinated remotely. Ask whether the platform claims to be the temple. Most legitimate platforms, ours included, are not affiliated with the temples they serve, and should say so plainly rather than implying otherwise through their branding.
5. Is the price complete and shown before payment?
Total cost, what is included, and whether prasad dispatch is extra. A platform that reveals cost only after you have entered your details is one to be careful with.
6. Is there a registered legal entity behind it?
A company name, a registration number, an address. In India a GSTIN can be verified on the government portal in under a minute. If none of that is on the site, you have no recourse if something goes wrong.
Divyachadhava is operated by ANS Services, a registered partnership firm in Bengaluru, Karnataka, GSTIN 29ACGFA1616G1ZM.
7. What are the refund and rescheduling terms?
Rituals have a point past which they cannot be cancelled, because the dravya has been purchased and the acharya committed. That is reasonable. What matters is that the cutoff is stated in advance rather than discovered afterwards.
Red flags worth walking away from
A guaranteed outcome in exchange for a fee. The tradition does not offer that and no provider can.
Pressure framed as spiritual urgency, or a warning that something bad follows if you do not book.
No temple named, or a temple named vaguely enough that it cannot be checked.
An astrologer who diagnoses a severe dosha and then sells the remedy in the same conversation.
Where we would fail your checks
We are not affiliated with any temple or trust, and if that affiliation is what you want, we are not it. We also do not offer live streaming on every seva, only the recording afterwards on most of them.
And we cannot promise you a result. If a platform tells you it can, that difference is not in our favour by their telling, but it is the honest position.
Frequently asked questions
Which is the best online puja website in India?
There is no single answer, and any platform claiming to be it is selling rather than advising. Choose by which rite you need and where it must be performed, then apply the seven checks above to whoever offers it.
How can I tell if the puja video is genuine?
Listen for your own naam and gotra in the sankalp. Generic footage cannot contain them. Also look for the specific temple and the date matching what you booked.
Is online puja booking safe to pay for?
Check for a registered legal entity and a verifiable GSTIN, a stated refund policy, and a mainstream payment gateway. Those three together make a platform accountable if something goes wrong.
Should I be suspicious of very cheap pujas?
Not automatically. A chadhava offering is genuinely inexpensive because the dravya is inexpensive. Be careful instead when a large anushthan with many acharyas is priced like a small offering, because something in that description is not happening.
