How online puja works
Booking a puja online does not change the ritual. It changes who stands at the Kshetra. A trained acharya performs the full ritual there on your behalf, and the part that makes it yours is the sankalp, in which your naam and gotra are spoken aloud before the deity.
The description below is what actually happens at Divyachadhava, in order, with nothing left out.
1. You choose the seva and the tithi
Every seva page names three things before you pay: which ritual is performed, at which Kshetra, and on which tithi. If any of those is missing from a page you are looking at, anywhere, that is worth questioning.
Festival sevas run on the festival's own date. Special Pujas run on a date you choose at checkout, which is what lets a devotee abroad match a shraddh tithi or a family muhurta.
2. You give the naam and gotra
The sankalp is the part of the ritual that names who it is for. You enter the naam and gotra of everyone it should carry: yourself, your parents, your children, the whole household.
If you do not know your gotra, Kashyap gotra is the accepted practice. This is not a workaround invented for online booking. It is what the tradition has always provided for families whose gotra has been lost.
3. The acharya performs the ritual at the Kshetra
On the appointed tithi the acharya takes your sankalp aloud before the deity and performs the ritual as it is laid down for that puja. The same offerings, the same mantras, the same order.
Where the seva calls for a specific dravya, that dravya is bought fresh at the Kshetra and offered in your name. A chadhava of bel patra at a Jyotirlinga is bel patra, physically placed.
4. The recording reaches you
Within about a day of completion an HD video arrives on your WhatsApp. Your own naam and gotra are audible in the sankalp.
That recording is the whole point. It is why we do not use stock footage of any kind, and it is what you should expect from any provider before you pay them.
What we do not do
We do not claim any direct affiliation with any temple or its trust. We work with traditional regional family pandits who have served devotees in those regions for generations, and we arrange and perform the offering.
We also do not promise an outcome. What is guaranteed is that the rite was performed, at the named Kshetra, on the named tithi, in your naam and gotra, and that you receive proof of it.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be present or awake during the puja?
No. Nothing is required of you at the time of the ritual. The sankalp names you whether you are there or not, and the recording is what reaches you afterwards.
How long does it take?
The ritual itself is performed on its tithi. The video generally reaches your WhatsApp within about 24 hours of completion.
Can I book for someone else?
Yes. Enter the naam and gotra of whoever the sankalp should carry. Many devotees book on behalf of a parent, a child, or the whole household.
What if I do not know my gotra?
Use Kashyap gotra. It is the accepted practice for devotees whose family gotra has been lost, and the sankalp is complete with it.
