Shri Giriraj Ji at Govardhan, worshipped at the Daan Ghati temple, is the natural form of Krishna, the Govardhan Shila, and the sacred heart of Braj. By the Shrimad Bhagavatam, when Indra sent a great storm on Braj, Krishna lifted the whole Govardhan hill on his little finger and held it for seven days as an umbrella, sheltering the people and cattle beneath it. The hill is worshipped as Krishna himself, and its parikrama is one of the holiest in Braj. On Govardhan Puja, the day after Diwali, devotees offer an annakut, a mountain of food, in gratitude and seek the shelter of Giriraj over their own home.
The Govardhan Puja giriraj-sharan sankalp is carried at Shri Giriraj Ji, Govardhan, in your naam-gotra, on Kartik Shukla Pratipada, the day after Diwali.
Devotees want the sankalp carried with care, a clear ritual, a clear video, and a clear naam-gotra spoken before Giriraj Ji at Govardhan.
