Shri Dirgha Vishnu Mandir stands in the heart of Mathura, the birth-city of Krishna, enshrining Dirgha Vishnu, an ancient long form of Bhagwan Vishnu of Braj. The story of Holika Dahan is the story of bhakti-vijay: the demon-king Hiranyakashipu could not bear his own son Prahlad’s devotion to Vishnu, and set his sister Holika, blessed to be unburnt by fire, to sit in the flames holding the child; yet it was Holika, the burning evil, who was turned to ash, and Prahlad, the true-hearted bhakta, who walked out unharmed — and Vishnu Himself tore forth as Narasimha to end the tyrant. On this Holika Dahan a sankalp is offered in your naam-gotra so that the negativity around you is burned away, ill-will and nazar are turned to ash, a heavy home is cleared and made lighter and brighter, and Vishnu’s raksha rests over you as it did over Prahlad. This is offered as faith and tradition; it is dharmic and only clears and protects — it never harms, curses or wishes ill on anyone. Setbacks can also have everyday causes, so this is not a substitute for practical help where it is needed.
The Holika Dahan nakaratmakta-dahan sankalp is carried at Shri Dirgha Vishnu Mandir, Mathura, in your naam-gotra, on the Holika Dahan night, with holika samidha, til and sarson before Bhagwan Vishnu.
Devotees want the sankalp carried with care and reverence, a clear ritual, a clear video, and a clear naam-gotra spoken before Bhagwan Vishnu at Mathura.
Shri Dirgha Vishnu Mandir at Mathura enshrines Dirgha Vishnu, who came as Narasimha to save the child-bhakta Prahlad while Holika, the burning evil, was turned to ash. Holika Dahan is the night the pyre of evil is lit. On this Holika Dahan of 21 March 2027, a sankalp is offered in your naam-gotra to Bhagwan Vishnu for the negativity around you burned away.
