Sevas at this ghat are taken for snan-vimochan, for pitru-shanti, and on Kartik Purnima and Dev Diwali. Your naam-gotra is spoken at the ghat before the offering is made to Maa Ganga.

Dev Diwali falls on Kartik Purnima, fifteen days after Diwali, when the devas are held to descend to the Ganga at Kashi. The eighty-four ghats are lit with rows of lamps, and the offering made at Dashashwamedh on that night is among the most sought of the year.
