About Maa Katyayani Shaktipeeth, VrindavanMaa Katyayani Shaktipeeth, also honoured as Uma Shakti Peeth, is one of the fifty-one Shakti Peethas of Bharat, set in the Braj town of Vrindavan. Here the ringlets of Sati's hair are said to have fallen, and the Devi is worshipped as Uma with Bhairava as Bhutesh. Maa Katyayani is the sixth of the Navadurga, the boon-giving warrior Devi born to sage Katyayana, and it was this very Devi that the gopis of Braj worshipped through the Katyayani-vrat, as told in the Bhagavata Purana, to obtain the husband of their heart. Marriageable daughters and their parents still come to lay a heartfelt vivah-yog prayer at her feet, for a suitable life partner and the lifting of every obstacle to marriage.
How the ritual is performedExperienced pandits invoke Maa Katyayani with lal-chunari, haldi, kumkum and solah-shringar arpan, all in authentic Vedic vidhi. Every step is dedicated to your family naam-gotra alone, on the single tithi you choose, a heartfelt prayer for a suitable life partner, the lifting of vivah-badha and a timely, happy marriage.
Why DivyachadhavaDevotees usually want the puja carried with care — a clear vidhi, a clear video, and a clear sankalp before Maa Katyayani.
