Vastu for Money & Wealth: Activate the Kuber Kon

In Vastu Shastra, every home has a specific zone believed to govern financial energy - the flow of income, savings and abundance. This is often called the Kuber Kon, named after Kuber, the divine treasurer and guardian of wealth in Hindu tradition. An aquarium with goldfish, ideally with an odd number of fish including one black fish, is a well-known Vastu remedy for wealth when placed in the north zone of the living room, though this is optional and based on personal preference.

Avoid placing heavy furniture, storage boxes or clutter in the northeast or north zone, as this is believed to physically and energetically block the flow of abundance.

Never place a toilet, dustbin or shoe rack in this corner, as these are considered to actively drain wealth energy.

Avoid keeping this corner dark or dimly lit - good natural or artificial lighting is considered essential to keep the zone active and vibrant.

Do not store old, unused or broken items in the wealth corner, as stagnant clutter is believed to trap negative energy and block new opportunities.

The main entrance of the home should be well-lit, clean and free of obstruction, as this is considered the primary gateway through which wealth energy enters.

Keep the northwest zone, associated with air element and support systems, free of heaviness, as this affects cash flow and support in financial matters.

Ensure taps and pipes throughout the house are not leaking, as flowing or dripping water outward from the home is traditionally seen as a symbol of leaking wealth.

Keep the cash box, locker or place where you store important financial documents in the south or southwest wall of a room, facing north, as this is considered supportive of savings and security.

A broken or stopped clock should never be kept in the home, particularly near the wealth corner, as it is believed to symbolise stagnation in financial growth.

Lighting a ghee diya near the Lakshmi-Kuber image every Friday evening is a simple and widely followed practice believed to invoke prosperity.

Chanting the Kuber mantra, Om Yakshaya Kuberaya Vaishravanaya Dhanadhanyadipataye Dhanadhanyasamriddhim Me Dehi Dapaya Swaha, on Fridays or during Dhanteras is considered auspicious for attracting financial stability.

Keeping the home, especially the kitchen and wealth corner, thoroughly clean is considered foundational, since Goddess Lakshmi is believed to reside where cleanliness and order are maintained.

If your home's northeast or north zone is already occupied by an unavoidable structure such as a staircase or storeroom, simple corrections such as placing a Vastu pyramid, keeping the area extra clean, hanging a small mirror, or placing the Kuber Yantra elsewhere in the north-facing wall of the living room can help balance the energy without structural changes.
