Shukra Graha Mantra

Shukra, or Venus, is regarded in Vedic astrology as the karaka of love, marriage, beauty, art, comfort and material luxury. A well-placed Shukra blesses one with a happy married life, charm, creativity and prosperity, while a weak or afflicted Shukra can bring discord in relationships, lack of contentment, or difficulties in attracting the right partner. The Shukra mantra is chanted to invoke these graceful, harmonising qualities.

बीज मंत्र: ॐ द्रां द्रीं द्रौं सः शुक्राय नमः

वैदिक मंत्र: ॐ अन्नात्परिस्रुतो रसं ब्रह्मणा व्यपिबत्क्षत्रं पयः सोमं प्रजापतिः। ऋतेन सत्यमिन्द्रियं विपानं शुक्रमन्धस इन्द्रस्येन्द्रियमिदं पयोऽमृतं मधु।।

पौराणिक मंत्र: ॐ हिमकुन्दमृणालाभं दैत्यानां परमं गुरुम्। सर्वशास्त्रप्रवक्तारं भार्गवं प्रणमाम्यहम्।।

Gayatri Mantra: ॐ अश्वध्वजाय विद्महे धनुर्हस्ताय धीमहि। तन्नो शुक्रः प्रचोदयात्।।

The beej mantra, Om Draam Dreem Draum Sah Shukraya Namah, invokes Venus's seed vibration to remove obstacles related to love, relationships and material well-being.

The Puranic dhyana mantra describes Shukra as fair as snow, jasmine or a lotus stem, the supreme guru of the Daityas, the expounder of all shastras, born in the lineage of sage Bhrigu — I bow to him.

The Gayatri form prays: we meditate on the one whose banner bears a horse and who holds a bow in hand; may that Shukra inspire our understanding.

Best day: Friday (Shukrawar), during Shukra's own hora in the morning or evening. Direction: Face south-east, Shukra's ruling direction, while chanting. Mala: Use a crystal (sphatik) mala or a silver-white thread mala; complete 108 repetitions per sitting. Colour: Wear white or light-coloured clothing; a diamond or white sapphire may be considered under expert astrological guidance alongside the mantra practice. Recommended count: 16,000 to 20,000 repetitions over 40 days for a dedicated Shukra sadhana, or a simple daily practice of 108 repetitions. Before chanting, offer white flowers, curd, rice kheer or white sandalwood to a picture of Devi Lakshmi or Shukra Dev, light a ghee lamp, and chant with a calm, loving heart, preferably in the evening.
