The complete Radha Chalisa in Devanagari with meaning, benefits and the correct way to chant it for divine love, devotion and grace.
Radha Rani is the eternal beloved of Shri Krishna, the very embodiment of divine love, devotion (prem-bhakti) and surrender. Where Krishna is the Supreme Being, Radha is the shakti of pure, selfless love that draws the devotee's heart towards the divine. In Braj, it is said that without taking Radha's name first, Krishna's name itself is considered incomplete — hence devotees greet each other with 'Radhe Radhe' or 'Jai Shri Radhe'. The Radha Chalisa is a forty-verse hymn composed in her honour, describing her beauty, her eternal bond with Krishna, her compassion for devotees, and the boons she showers on those who remember her with a sincere heart.

Meaning
Opening doha: Salutations to Radha, daughter of Vrishabhanu, the beloved of Krishna, whose lotus feet remove every sorrow and grant supreme joy.
Verses 1-8 describe her divine birth in Barsana to Vrishabhanu and mother Kirti, her radiant golden complexion, lotus eyes, moon-like face and the beauty that captivates all who behold her — she is foremost among the ashta-sakhis (eight chief companions) of Krishna.
Verses 9-16 glorify her eternal rasa-leela with Krishna in Vrindavan, her role as the embodiment of pure, selfless prem-bhakti that saints like Surdas and Tulsidas have sung of, and her boundless compassion as an ocean of mercy for the humble and distressed.
Verses 17-24 speak of her inseparability from Krishna, the divine rasa performed in Nidhivan, and how remembering her name alone dissolves the sorrows of devotees and grants passage across the ocean of worldly existence.
Verses 25-32 describe the sanctity of Radha Kund and Barsana hill, the merit of observing Radha Ashtami vrat, and an earnest prayer for her grace to remove fear and difficulty from the devotee's life.
Verses 33-40 assure that whoever sings this Chalisa regularly attains whatever they seek — a child, wealth, knowledge — for Radha's name itself is steeped in love and dissolves every anguish; the closing prayer asks for a place at her feet in Braj-dham at the time of death.
Closing doha: Victory to Vrishabhanu-nandini Radha, whose name is boundless; may she bestow her grace upon this humble servant and grant a place at her feet.
Why Chant the Radha Chalisa
Chanting the Radha Chalisa is believed to awaken pure, selfless love (prem-bhakti) in the heart, dissolve ego and attachment, and draw the devotee closer to Krishna through Radha's compassionate grace. It is especially cherished by devotees of the Braj tradition and Vaishnava lineages who hold that Radha's mercy is the surest path to Krishna's love.
How and When to Chant
Chant the Radha Chalisa daily at sunrise or during the evening aarti hour, ideally on Fridays, on Radha Ashtami, or during Kartik and Sharad Purnima when Radha-Krishna leela is especially celebrated. Sit facing a Radha-Krishna image, light a ghee lamp, offer flowers, tulsi leaves and a simple naivedya of makhan-mishri, and recite the Chalisa with a calm, loving heart. Reciting it eleven times on a Friday, or as part of a 40-day (mandal) sadhana, is considered especially auspicious.
Dos and Don'ts
Maintain purity of body and mind; do not chant while distracted or in an impure state. Approach the recitation with the spirit of love and surrender rather than as a mechanical ritual. Never use the recitation to make demands with a selfish or unkind motive; Radha's grace flows most freely to a humble, loving heart. Avoid non-vegetarian food and intoxicants on days of special worship.
Mahatmya (Glory)
It is said in Braj tradition that Krishna himself delights more in hearing his own name preceded by Radha's — 'Radhe Krishna' — than in any other invocation, for Radha is the shakti of love without which devotion remains incomplete. Regular recitation of her Chalisa is believed to purify relationships, deepen devotion, and bring the sweetness of divine love into ordinary life.
