Simple, dharmik household remedies drawn from Vedic tradition to ease tension with neighbours and restore peace and goodwill around your home.
Why disputes with neighbours happen
In the Vedic view, ongoing friction with neighbours, over boundaries, noise, water, parking, or simply personality clashes, is often linked to disturbed planetary influences, particularly a weak or afflicted Mars (Mangal), Rahu, or Saturn (Shani) in one's chart, along with accumulated negativity (vaastu dosh) around the entrance or boundary of the home. Beyond astrology, our tradition also teaches that where there is ahamkara (ego) and a lack of shanti (peace) in the atmosphere of a home, small issues escalate quickly.
The remedies below are not meant to "defeat" a neighbour or bend their will. Sanatan Dharma teaches ahimsa and dharmic conduct even in conflict; these upay are meant to soften your own environment, calm the energy around the shared boundary, and invite reconciliation and understanding, not manipulation of another person's mind or free will.
Vedic and dharmik remedies
Hanuman Chalisa path: Reciting the Hanuman Chalisa daily, especially on Tuesdays and Saturdays, is one of the most trusted remedies for protection from conflict, ill-will, and negative energy. Hanuman ji is invoked as the remover of obstacles and the guardian of peace in the home.
Lighting a mustard oil diya to Shani Dev: On Saturdays, light a diya of mustard oil (sarson ka tel) with a black til (sesame) mixed in, facing west, and pray for patience and resolution. This is traditionally done to pacify Shani's influence, which often governs prolonged, drawn-out disputes.
Tulsi and boundary purification: Keep a Tulsi plant near the entrance of your home if possible, and sprinkle a little Gangajal mixed with water at your doorstep and boundary wall every morning. This is a simple, traditional way to purify the shared space energetically.
Daan (charity) for peace: On a Saturday, donate black til, mustard oil, or a black cloth to someone in need, with a prayer specifically for peace and the ending of conflict, not for "winning" against the neighbour.
Chanting the Shanti Mantra: Recite the following mantra daily, ideally in the morning:
ॐ द्यौः शान्तिरन्तरिक्षं शान्तिः पृथिवी शान्तिरापः शान्तिरोषधयः शान्तिः। वनस्पतयः शान्तिर्विश्वेदेवाः शान्तिर्ब्रह्म शान्तिः सर्वं शान्तिः शान्तिरेव शान्तिः सा मा शान्तिरेधि।। ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः।
This Vedic peace invocation calls for peace in the sky, the atmosphere, the earth, the waters, and among all beings, a beautiful, all-encompassing prayer perfectly suited to resolving discord.
Speaking with restraint (vaani sanyam): Traditional wisdom strongly advises avoiding heated arguments, especially during Rahu Kaal or late evening hours, when tempers and misunderstandings tend to worsen. Approach conversations calmly, after your daily puja if possible, when the mind is more settled.
Ganesh puja before difficult conversations: Before attempting to resolve the matter directly with your neighbour, offer a short prayer to Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, asking for a smooth, peaceful resolution.

FAQ
Common questions
How long does it take for these upay to show results?
There is no fixed timeframe. Continue the practice sincerely for at least 40 days (a traditional mandal), while also making genuine efforts at respectful communication.
Can these remedies be used to force a neighbour to change?
No, these upay are meant to bring peace and clarity to your own environment and conduct, not to control another person's will, which is not the intent of dharmik practice.
Is it necessary to consult an astrologer for a personalised remedy?
It can help. If disputes are persistent and severe, a personalised chart reading may reveal specific planetary combinations calling for a more tailored remedy.
What if the dispute involves legal or safety issues?
Spiritual remedies should always be paired with appropriate legal or civic steps in such cases; please consult local authorities or a legal professional.
