About Shri Kaal Bhairav MandirShri Kaal Bhairav Mandir stands on the banks of the Shipra at Ujjain, dedicated to Kaal Bhairav, the fierce Rudra form of Shiva and the Nagar Kotwal, the divine guardian of the city appointed by its king. It is among the most active temples in Ujjain, famed for the madira offering laid before Bhairav Baba, and for granting fearlessness and protection to those who come to him.
How the ritual is performedThe Sawan Kalashtami abhishek is carried at the Kaal Bhairav darbar in your naam-gotra, on the Shravan Krishna Ashtami muhurta, the day of the fierce guardian.
Why DivyachadhavaDevotees want the sankalp carried with care, a clear ritual, a clear video, and a clear naam-gotra spoken before Kaal Bhairav.
In Sawan, Shiva’s holiest month, his fiercest form burns brightest. On Sawan Kalashtami, the Shravan Krishna Ashtami of 5 August 2026, the Vikraal Bhairav swaroop is bathed in sarson oil and honey, smeared with bhasma from the sacred fire, and offered madira on the Shipra. There your naam-gotra is laid before the Kotwal for a fearless life.
