Jagannath Rath Yatra Kshetra at Puri is the sacred ground of the Char Dham seat of Vishnu, where Lord Jagannath, the Daru-Brahma form of Krishna, is worshipped with Balabhadra and Subhadra. After nine days at the Gundicha temple, the deities ride the Nandighosha, Taladhwaja and Darpadalana chariots home along the Bada Danda on Bahuda Yatra, the return that completes the great journey.
The Bahuda homecoming sankalp is carried at the Puri Jagannath darbar in your naam-gotra, on the Ashadha Shukla Dashami muhurta when the Lord rides the chariot home.
Devotees want the sankalp carried with care, a clear ritual, a clear video, and a clear naam-gotra spoken before Lord Jagannath.
On Bahuda Rath Yatra, Ashadha Shukla Dashami, 24 July 2026, Lord Jagannath rides the Nandighosha chariot home from the Gundicha temple to his Puri sanctum, and at Niladri Bije is lovingly reconciled with Goddess Lakshmi. This is his last darshan on the open chariot for a year; on this once-a-year homecoming your naam-gotra is carried to the returning chariot in a Bahuda sankalp.
