About Shri Kaal Bhairav MandirShri Kaal Bhairav Mandir at Ujjain enshrines Kaal Bhairav, the Kotwal — the fierce guardian and magistrate of Avantika, who holds the keys of the city and of time itself, and who, the shastras say, humbled even the pride of Brahma. He is Kaal, before whom no closed door stays shut and no jammed hour stays stuck. Chaitra Kala Ashtami, the Chaitra Krishna Ashtami, is his fierce Ashtami tithi, kept with madira, black til and the red dhwaja. On this day a sankalp is offered in your naam-gotra so that a career that has stalled begins to move again, the way to advancement opens, a promotion or a rise comes through, opportunities that kept passing you by begin to open, and your honest effort finally finds recognition. This is offered as faith and tradition; it is never a substitute for your own skill, effort and honest work, which the Kotwal’s blessing is meant to carry forward, not replace.
How the ritual is performedThe Chaitra Kala Ashtami unnati-marg sankalp is carried at Shri Kaal Bhairav Mandir, Ujjain, in your naam-gotra, on the Kalashtami tithi, with madira, black til and sindoor before Kaal Bhairav.
Why DivyachadhavaDevotees want the sankalp carried with care and reverence, a clear ritual, a clear video, and a clear naam-gotra spoken before Kaal Bhairav at Ujjain.
