Rohini Nakshatra Guide

Rohini is the fourth nakshatra of the twenty-seven nakshatras of Vedic astrology, spanning 10 degrees 00 minutes to 23 degrees 20 minutes in the sign of Taurus (Vrishabha). Its name means "the red one" or "the growing one", and it is famously known as the nakshatra most beloved by Chandra, the Moon, according to the old legend in which the Moon god married the twenty-seven daughters of Daksha Prajapati but showed clear favouritism to Rohini, drawing the anger of his father-in-law and eventually being cursed to wane and wax.

The symbol of Rohini is a bullock cart or an ox-cart, sometimes also depicted as a banyan tree or a chariot, all pointing to the same core meaning: steady, fertile growth, the patient carrying of a load toward abundance. The presiding deity of Rohini is Brahma, the creator, which reinforces its deep connection with fertility, creation, growth and the beginning of new life. The ruling planet of the nakshatra is the Moon, doubling the emotional, nurturing and aesthetic sensitivity of anyone strongly influenced by it.
