Ram Darbar Aarti

The Ram Darbar is the sacred court of Lord Rama at Ayodhya - Bhagwan Shri Ram seated upon the throne with Mata Sita by his side, his devoted brother Lakshman standing in attendance, and Hanuman ji kneeling before them in eternal service. The Ram Darbar Aarti honours this divine assembly, celebrating the ideal king, the ideal family and the ideal devotee together in one glorious image. It is sung in temples and homes, and especially during Ramnavami, Vivah Panchami and Diwali, whenever Ram's grace is invoked.

आरती कीजै श्री रामचन्द्र जी की, कृपा करो प्रभु दीनदयाल जी की।

रत्न सिंहासन आप विराजे, सिय-सहित प्रभु शोभा साजे। आरती कीजै श्री रामचन्द्र जी की।

भरत लखन शत्रुघ्न भ्राता, चारों भाई परम सुखदाता। आरती कीजै श्री रामचन्द्र जी की।

हनुमत वीर खड़े कर जोरी, सेवा करत निशदिन बिनु छोरी। आरती कीजै श्री रामचन्द्र जी की।

मुनि वशिष्ठ करें जयकारा, गूँजे राम-राम जय-जयकारा। आरती कीजै श्री रामचन्द्र जी की।

सिय-राम रूप निहारत सुरगण, लोक चतुर्दश हर्षित हो मन। आरती कीजै श्री रामचन्द्र जी की।

राम-दरबार की शोभा न्यारी, जय-जय बोलें नर-नारी सारी। आरती कीजै श्री रामचन्द्र जी की।

दास तुलसी अरज करत हैं, चरण शरण में प्रीत धरत हैं। आरती कीजै श्री रामचन्द्र जी की, कृपा करो प्रभु दीनदयाल जी की।

The refrain calls devotees to perform the aarti of Shri Ramchandra, the ever-compassionate one who showers grace on the humble. The verses describe Ram seated on a jewelled throne with Sita beside him; his three brothers Bharat, Lakshman and Shatrughna standing as pillars of devotion and duty; Hanuman with folded hands rendering tireless service day and night; sage Vashishtha leading the chants of victory; the gods of all fourteen worlds gazing joyfully upon the divine form of Sita-Ram; and finally the whole assembly of men and women rejoicing at the incomparable splendour of the Ram Darbar, while Tulsidas humbly seeks shelter at the divine feet.

The Ram Darbar image is worshipped not just as a deity but as the model of dharma itself - a just king, an ideal husband, devoted brothers and a selfless devotee, all bound together by love and duty. Keeping a Ram Darbar photo or idol at home is believed to bring harmony, protection and prosperity to the family, since it represents the perfect balance of relationships under one roof.

Light a ghee diya and dhoop before the Ram Darbar image or idol. Offer tulsi leaves, flowers and a little water. Stand facing the deities, ring a small bell if available, and sing the aarti with folded hands, moving the diya gently in a clockwise circle - first before the feet, then the whole form, then the face. Conclude with two or three circles of the flame and lightly touch its warmth to your eyes as a gesture of receiving blessings. This can be done every evening, and especially on Ramnavami, Vivah Panchami, Diwali, and every Tuesday or Saturday, days associated with Hanuman ji's presence in the Darbar.

Regular recitation is said to bring a sense of protection and calm to the household, strengthen family bonds by invoking the example of Ram's devoted brothers, remove fear and obstacles through Hanuman ji's blessing within the same image, and deepen faith in dharma, patience and righteous living during difficult times.
