The Story (Vrat Katha) A newly married man named Madhusudan went to his in-laws’ house to bring his wife back. His in-laws insisted, “Don’t go today. It is Wednesday, and travel on Wednesday is considered inauspicious for daughters.” Madhusudan did not listen and forcefully took his wife.
On the way, the wife felt thirsty. Madhusudan went to find water. When he returned, he was shocked to see another man who looked exactly like him, sitting in the chariot with his wife!
A fight broke out between the two “Madhusudans.” The soldiers came and took them to the King. The King asked the wife to identify her real husband, but she was confused because they looked identical.
The real Madhusudan prayed to God for help. Suddenly, a voice from the sky (Budh Dev) spoke: “You disrespected the rule of Wednesday. This is the result.” Madhusudan apologized and promised to observe the Budhvar Vrat. The duplicate man vanished instantly.
