About Shri Badrinath Dham, Chamoli, UttarakhandShri Badrinath is one of Adi Shankaracharya's Vaishnava Char Dham, sitting at 10,279 ft in the Garhwal Himalayas between the Nara and Narayana peaks, on the bank of the Alaknanda. The Vamana Purana names this kshetra as the seat where Nara and Narayana — Vishnu's 5th avatar in dual form — performed tapas. The dham opens only May–October when Himalayan access is possible.
How the ritual is performedThe acharya performs the Vishnu Sahasranaam paath with traditional Vaishnava vidhi — 1,000 names of Vishnu recited in the rishi-kram. Each section receives tulsi-arpan and panchamrit-charanamrita on the Vishnu-yantra, with your family's naam-gotra carried throughout. The paath closes with Geet Govind segments in the parampara of the dham's 9 PM aarti.
